For COP2 I am looking into sound and the relationship between audio and visual . I will be looking into people and sound/music, the effects of synesthasia, and the loss of sense as well. My idea is to create a visual piece of work in response to a piece of music, so that if you watched the video without any sound you would be able to sense the mood of the music.
I find it easy to picture colour, surrounding and space when i hear sounds, particularly music, so my aim is to record my representation of the chosen piece of music and be able to give a person who cannot hear the ability to hear the music through sight.
The Pictures above are of The Fountain Of Montjuic. On the last sunday of each month there is a spectacular show put on where music, water and colour are combined to create a breath taking display. To me it was so amazing to see the colours change to compliment the melodic and rythmic changes in the music. Not only was colour incorporated but also movement, the water moved so on point to express emotion in the music building in size during crescendo and crating delicate shapes during gentler parts of the music . The combination of audio and visual was to point where they both balanced and complimented each other so equally that the over all impact was tripled in comparison to if i was just to see the water and colours on there own or to just hear the music on its own.
This is a perfect example of visual aspects responding to audio to combine and create an impacting piece of work. The perfect balance of audio and visual is some thing I take great care in with my work as I think that they are two things that work as one, audio brings out a different level of intensity in visual work and visa versa.
